Community Education at HOPE Sussex

“It takes a village to raise a child”

At HOPE Sussex Community, we truly live by this. Our vibrant, supportive network of like-minded home-educating families is at the heart of everything we do. Over the years, we’ve built lifelong friendships, a deep sense of belonging, and a space where both children and parents can thrive together.

We believe that education is more than academics; it’s about nurturing the whole child. Our aim is to support families in raising emotionally resilient, confident, curious, and content young people who are deeply connected to their community and in tune with their own wellbeing.

What makes HOPE education special?

Community First

Children learn within a warm, inclusive community of peers and families who support, uplift, and grow together.

Small Class Sizes

With an average of just 8 children per class, sessions allow for deeper learning, meaningful relationships, and personalised support.

Level-Based Learning (Not Age-Based)

Children are grouped by learning level rather than age, helping them feel confident, capable, and appropriately challenged.

Affordable & Accessible

All sessions are £5.50 each, keeping quality learning accessible to more families.

Independent, DBS-Checked Tutors

All tutors teaching within HOPE are DBS checked professionals who hire the space independently and bring a wide range of skills, experience, and passion to their sessions.

HOPE Sussex Community is not a school and is not Ofsted-registered. We provide and facilitate the learning environment, while all tutoring arrangements, bookings, and educational delivery are made directly between families and the individual tutors.

A Broad Range of Classes

Children are free to explore their interests across a wide variety of subjects, including:

• Science
• History
• Critical Thinking
• English & Maths
• Music, Dance & Drama
• Sports & Movement
• Arts & Crafts
• Baking & Cookery
• Astronomy
• GCSE Preparation

Days That Flow with Purpose

Sessions run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. After a homemade lunch lovingly prepared by our parents and volunteers, we spend 30 minutes each day giving back; everyone, including the children, helps care for and tidy the site. This nurtures respect, responsibility, and pride in our shared space.

Our Core Values
We are united by values that shape everything we do:

Freedom & Empowerment
